Class Supplies
Below is a list of items you would benefit from having in my class this year.
- Colored pens. I use color in my notes to highlight important properties, vocabulary, or to show inverse operations when solving equations. Students find it equally valuable to also take notes in color so the key concepts stand out. The most frequent colors I use are red, dark blue, light blue, black, green, purple and orange
- At least a single-subject spiral bound notebook.
- Graphing calculator - I will model concepts using both a TI calculator as well as Desmos. During the SAT, students can choose to use their own handheld calculator or the Desmos built into the test. Therefore, I will model both platforms when teaching.
- Mechanical pencils. My pencil sharpener isn't always reliable and mechanical pencils are self sharpening.

About MeMy name is Melissa Kramer, and I have been connected with Laingsburg High School for a very long time. I taught at LHS from 2004-2016 and served as a mentor for the high school robotics team, Red Thunder Robotics FRC 7166 from 2019 to current. During my time away from LHS, I have served in both the private and the public sector as a junior high math teacher, a high school administrator, a risk management team lead, and most recently, a Human Resources Manager at Pro-MEC Engineering Services, Inc. I am beyond excited to be back in the classroom here in the 'Burg!
When I'm not working, I enjoy traveling and have visited Ireland, Iceland, England, Germany, and Italy (amongst others). I love to read and spend time with my English bulldog (Ginger), rescue (Maisie), and two cats (Lily and Bo). I also serve as the District Robotics Coordinator for Laingsburg Community Schools and mentor at the middle school and high school levels. I am an avid Detroit Lions fan and am a University of Michigan alumna (Go Blue)! I have been married for more years than I'd like to say and my son is a 2022 LHS graduate currently studying Human Biology and Pre-medicine at MSU. |
